    Safety First for Our Swimmers

Quick Guide to the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP)

At Sedona Swim Team, we believe swimming should be safe, fun, and respectful for everyone—especially our younger athletes. These rules keep our team a place where kids can grow, thrive, and feel supported.

    1. Always in Sight

    • Coaches and other adults don’t meet alone with a swimmer unless a parent is there or it’s in a public, open space.
    • Emails, texts, or messages to swimmers always copy a parent or another approved adult.

    2. Safe Travel

    • Adults never share a hotel room with an unrelated swimmer.
    • Parents know all travel and rooming plans before we go.

    3. Locker Room Safety

    • No one-on-one time between adults and swimmers in locker rooms.
    • No photos, videos, or hanging out—just change and go.

    4. Communication Rules

    • We keep conversations in team groups or with parents included.
    • No private messages between coaches or adult volunteers unless absolutely needed—and parents are copied in.

    5. Hands-On Help

    • Stretching, massage, or training help happens only with written parent permission—and in open areas where others can see.

    6. Speak Up

    • If something feels wrong, tell a coach, parent, or official right away.
    • We’d rather hear it and check than risk anyone feeling unsafe.

We’re committed to creating a safe team that's encouraging, welcoming, and built on trust—so every swimmer can focus on becoming their best, in the pool and out

    About Sedona Swim Team

At the heart of Sedona summer is the Sedona Swordfish Swim Team—a local tradition that has brought kids together in the water for generations. Our program blends science-based swim training with a positive team culture built on connection, curiosity, and a love of the sport. Swimmers develop strong fundamentals, lasting friendships, and the quiet confidence that comes from showing up, working hard, and cheering for the lane next to them.
